Welcome To National Pipe Co. Ltd.
The establishment of the company was envisioned by the Sumitomo Group of Japan together with Saudi investors to provide local supply of quality pipes for oil, gas, water and construction. The plant sits in Dhahran, fifteen kilometres from one of its largest customers.
A joint venture of Saudi investors (49%) and Nippon Steel Sumitomo Metal Corporation (51%), NPC was the first large-diameter carbon steel line pipe manufacturer in the Kingdom to obtain API licenses — API 5L-0140 in 1980 and API 2B-0073 in 2004.

Inside the mill

Steel arrives as certified coil.
Hot-rolled coil from approved mills is received, identified by heat number and stored under cover before forming.
Traceable to heat and supplier

Helical and longitudinal forming lines.
Two Sumitomo / Blohm+Voss spiral mills and Haeusler press lines shape pipe from 20 to 84 inches in diameter.

Submerged arc welding, inside and out.
Each seam is welded on both faces with monitored parameters, then logged against the welder and machine record.
API 5L / API 2B practice

Ultrasonic, radiographic, hydrostatic.
Nothing leaves the yard before non-destructive testing and pressure testing are complete and the certificate is approved.
Independent of production

Coated, marked and loaded out.
3LPE, FBE and cement lining are applied in-house, then pipe is stencilled and staged in the dispatch yard.
